12/2 3 connections between "making" and an art-classroom

  1.  Seymour Papert states (1971), "Some think of use the computer to program the kid; others think of using the program the computer. But most of them have at least this in common: the transaction between the computer and the kid will be some kind of "conversation" or "questions and answers " in word or numbers. " In my opinion, to teach kids about technology are very important, because we are living in the technology world and we are using technology everyday. Kids will explore more interesting artworks in the classroom, a lot of people in my country China, think kids are too young to learn technology, so when was a little girl in my country, our computer class is learn how to type and some other basic skill of using computer. This is not a positive to kids to learn, because how to use computer or other devices are very easy for kids, they will know how to play with them without any instruction. I believe with the development of technology, kids need to have technology class in the art classroom,  kids always lights up my ideas, although some of their ideas are not easy to do or are not possible, for scientist they also let their impossible ideas to be true. It is great to provide kids an art class for making technology work
  2. I love the video of Sylvia's mini make show, because she changing herself to make projects in science, technology, engineering and math. This will be a great example for kids, I think for every teacher should know is never underestimate your students, any of your new lesson in the classroom for kids, will give them a lot of imaginations. Give more opportunities for them can let them to think about by themselves, not just asked teacher how to do it or followed by teacher. Asked kids to followed by teacher is training them to be a robot and they will not think like human beings anymore.

  1. Sylvia Libow Martinez (2013),"  Students will learn, they will invent, they will teach, they will collaborate, and they will share knowledge when it best suits their needs, interests, and style." I believe teaching is not only teach students a new skill, it is more about help students to develop their own ideas with the skill they have learned in the classroom. I think the reason why there are a lot of differences between China and American education, because most of Chinese are believe Buddhism and the central concept is samsara, means the endless cycle of birth and suffering and death and rebirth. The principle symbol is a cycle, hence in education, still followed the old way of teaching and it is repeating. But most of American is Christian; the principle of the symbol is a cross, and it has vertical and horizontal direction. I think the horizontal represents the teaching of art technique; the vertical represent the concept. Hence the American education always can lead students to a new level to explore art.
